James Blackburn, piano, and David Duthie, acoustic bass, have been performing together continuously since 1984. Their music, as well as their partnership, is unique in the Portland area.

One can easily hear their tight piano and bass duo style that these two pros have developed over the years, which makes them so popular with so many people.

Blackburn and Duthie play the all-time great jazz favorites by such composers as Duke Ellington, George Gershwin, Cole Porter, and Rodgers and Hart, to name a few. Their music is presented in a straight-ahead style. Their song treatments are always elegant, sophisticated, and inspired. Theirs is a style of jazz that is timeless.

Blackburn and Duthie are seasoned and polished professionals who have performed in long-running nightclub engagements, private gala events, civic celebrations, and public concerts throughout the Northwest and Palm Springs. They are equally well suited for your private event, and their music is never too loud.
